How does mobile training work?
Mobile training means I come to you — whether that’s your home or office — which saves you from driving and means you don’t have to work out in the hustle and bustle of a gym. It’s just me and you, one-on-one. After a free initial consultation, I develop individualized training sessions for you to help you meet your goals.
Do I need to have an exercise machine at home?
Nope! I’m basically a traveling gym. I bring all the equipment — including dumbbells, kettle bells, stability balls, and resistance bands — required for a full-body workout to build muscle, increase strength, and improve your cardiovascular health. There’s no need at all for an exercise machine. (Besides, I don’t like them anyway.)
Why don’t you like exercise machines?
Exercise machines force you to do the same repetitive motion over and over again, which is not how your body moves naturally. I believe in what’s called functional training — strengthening your body for everyday situations, like picking up a toy off the ground, or reaching for a glass on a tall shelf. Strengthening muscles in a functional way prevents injuries and makes your life easier overall. Machines don’t do that.
Will we do the same routine every time?
Absolutely not! My philosophy — and this is a proven philosophy — is that the body adapts almost too well to stress put on it. If you jog at a constant rate, five days a week, your body adapts and you stop burning as many calories. So my whole approach is to constantly change up the workout so that your body doesn’t adapt. When we keep your body guessing, you get quicker results and lifelong progress.
What can I expect from my first session?
The first session is a light workout. I assess your strengths and weaknesses, and I take you through some basic exercises to see how your body moves. I study your posture to get your form dialed in immediately, so we don’t have any injuries pop up.
Do you focus mostly on strength training or will we also do cardio?
That depends on your goals. If you want to lose weight, we’ll focus more on cardio so you can burn the maximum amount calories. But to optimize calorie burn, you’ll want to up your metabolism by building lean muscle tissue. So I’ll always want to incorporate some strength training too. If your goal is body sculpting, we’ll spend a lot of time on strength training, gradually increasing the work load for your muscles. But to make your muscles stand out, you usually need to do some cardio to lose the body fat that’s hiding them.
What kind of people do you work with?
I work with all kinds of people, but there’s one thing they all have in common: They are all highly motivated, and committed to changing their lives for the better.
Most of my clients are women in their 30s to mid-50s, but I also enjoy working with athletes and overweight kids.
What other kinds of services do you offer?
In addition to strength training, body sculpting, and cardiovascular training, I offer nutritional counseling and weight loss advice. I will come into your kitchen, look at your cupboards and fridge, and let you know what you need to throw away, what to never purchase again, and which foods you should always have in stock. I can also teach you how to reach food labels (what to look for and what not to look for) and print out meal plans for you to follow.
Why should I choose you over a trainer at the gym?
- Convenience: I come to you.
- Passion: I really care about my clients and if you put in 110%, so do I.
- Balance: I will push you hard, but I’m perceptive enough to know when to stop.
- Fun: I try to make working out as fun as possible and do things that you’ll enjoy.
- Results: I promise that if you stick with it, you will get results — and feel fantastic!
